In this thesis, the structure, electrical and magnetic properties of ferrimanganites Nd and Sm studies were studied. The subject of such research was chosen because the world scientific attention which was concentrated on studying the unusual magnetic and electrical properties of perovskite manganese oxides RyA1-yMO3 (R is a rare earth element, A is a divalent element like Ca, Sr, Ba,…and M is a transition metal element) during last decades.

SmFexMn1-x O3 , NdFexMn1-x O3 and Nd0.65Sr0.35FexMn1-x O3 were studied. NdFexMn1-x O3 and Nd0.65Sr0.35FexMn1-x O3 were prepared in Kazan state University while SmFexMn1-x O3 was taken from Moscow State University. All samples were prepared using solid state reaction.

X-ray and neutron diffraction measurements were performed for structural characterization.

Electrical resistivity and thermoelectric power properties were investigated for all samples while magnetization for  Nd0.65Sr0.35FexMn1-x O3 was carried out.

Mossbauer spectra were measured for all samples.

The main conclusions of this thesis:

*Neutron diffraction measurements of Nd0.65Sr0.35Fe0.6Mn0.4 O3  showed that it has ferromagnetic ordering at 120k and room temperature. The magnetic ordering changed to weak ferromagnetic ordering at 520k. For NdFe0.6Mn0.4O3  neutron diffraction at room temperature and 114K showed that this compound has weak ferromagnetic ordering.

*The activation energy is directly proportional to the volume of unit cell of the Nd0.65Sr0.35FexMn1-x O3 samples.

*The nonrandom cation distributions (in the 3d lattice site) model was proposed for interpretation the Mossbauer spectra of SmFexMn1-x O3 and NdFexMn1-x O3.

*Coexistence of  ferromagnetic and  weakferromagnetic ordering in Nd0.65Sr0.35FexMn1-x O3 where x<0.8.

MSc thesis deals with spectrum and flux measurements performed at the exit of the neutron guide facility which was installed in front of the horizontal channels of the ET-RR-1 reactor. This Neutron guide is one of the important parts of the Cairo Fourier Diffractometer Facility CFDF. This diffractometer consists of a curved neutron guide 22m length followed by Fourier chopper. Straight neutron guide 3m length was installed after Fourier chopper and four detector elements were arranged at 2q=90°.

These measurements were carried out in order to evaluate the performance of the neutron guide. The spectrum from its exit is compared with the calculated one. It was used different methods for measuring flux at different positions (Calibrated detector and gold foils). Spectrum from the Straight neutron guide

The main results:

The comparison between the neutron guide facility in GKSS (FSS facility) and ours showed that neutron flux values are closed in spite of the GKSS reactor is higher flux than ET-RR-1 reactor.

The neutron flux from curved neutron guide ~ 6.67´106 neutrons.cm-2.s-1.

The neutron flux from straight neutron guide ~ 1.12´106 neutrons.cm-2.s-1.

The neutron flux at the sample position ~ 1.05´106 neutrons.cm-2.s-1.

The spectrum which measured at the sample position was compared with calculated and good agreement was achieved.
